Get ready to do battle with Audrey II.... we're doing 'Little Shop' in 2012.....

Wednesday, 6th June - Saturday 9th June, Nightly at 7.30, Saturday matinee 2.30pm

Seymour Krelborn is a poor young man working in a run-down flower shop on Skid Row when he encounters a miracle - an alien plant after a total eclipse. After bringing the plant to the flower shop, he gains fame, fortune and love... The only problem is satisfying the plant's appetite....

Little Shop of Horrors opened off-Broadway at the Orpheum Theatre on 27th July, 1982. The original production, directed by Howard Ashman, was critically acclaimed and won several awards including the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical and the Outer Critics Circle Award. When it closed in 1987, after 2209 performances, it was the third-longest running musical and the highest-grossing production in off-Broadway history.

The songs are by Alan Menken and his late partner, Howard Ashman. Together, the pair went on to greater success by doing the music for a trio of Disney animated features: The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Little shop of Horrors, however, remains their most inspired work.
