The Hired Man - 30th May to 2nd June 2007

This musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novella, "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", tells how a brilliant doctor and research scientist, distraught over his father's mental illness, embarks upon a quest to isolate the dual elements of good and evil that are constantly struggling for supremacy inside every human being.  However, when his experiment backfires, Jekyll inadvertently gives life to Edward Hyde, his evil alter ego, a murderous being who lets loose a reign of terror on the city of London and those who had ridiculed Jekyll's research...
Caught in the cross-fire of this epic internal struggle are Jekyll's fiancée, Emma Carew; her father, Sir Danvers; Jekyll's best friend, John Utterson; and a prostitute named Lucy, who becomes entangled with Hyde.
This show mixes together characters from both ends of the social spectrum, songs and scenes that provide ample chills and thrills, and a main character split between the extremes of morality. But are they really that separate... How do you tell evil from good?
