The
Norfolk & Norwich Threshold
Theatre Group was set up in 1995 to provide a training
ground for its parent company,
the
Norfolk & Norwich
Operatic Society.
One of Threshold's
objectives is "to train young and inexperienced
people to gain a good knowledge of all aspects of
the
dramatic arts".
The company put on its
first production, 'West Side Story' in 1995 and in
1997 we gained a National Lottery award from the
Arts Council. This was used to provide workshops and
training for Threshold members.
From its start
until 2001, Threshold performed at the Walter Roy
Theatre at the Hewett School, Norwich. In May 2003 Threshold
moved to our present home, the prestigious Norwich Playhouse with our
production of 'Sweet Charity'.
Our 2004 production of
'Spend, Spend, Spend!' was an East Anglian
amateur premiere and were honoured to have the
attendance of Viv Nicholson, around whose life
this fabulous show is based, at the opening
night.
At the 2008
NODA East annual conference, hosted by the NNOS,
we were honoured to be awarded the Shield for
best production in the district for 'The
Hired Man', a major achievement and a credit
to all involved.
